Kaivo is a semi-modular software synthesizer that combines two powerful ways to create sound: granular synthesis and physics simulation. Kaivo offers the latest physics simulation research for the first time. In mathematical terms, its discretization-based finite difference time domain method allows the user to “get inside the instrument” and influence internal oscillations at any point. This allows for an accurate level of realistic detail. And while Kaivo is capable of creating very realistic sounds, it is also designed to apply this feature to abstract creations. Kaivo has eight different types of tuned resonators, each with its own complex sound response.
